Cameron was born September 28, 1989 to the very proud parents Leon and Lori Lelm Schlafmann. Cameron is the youngest of three children, he was baptized, confirmed and a member of Lysne Lutheran Church. He attended Hawley Public Schools and graduated in 2008. After high school he moved to Duluth where he attended Lake Superior College and enrolled in the fire science curriculum. He returned to Hawley with dreams of pursuing a career as a fire fighter. Cam was currently working for Brown Wilbert Vault Company in Fargo to pay for his new Hemi truck. Throughout Cameron's short life he enjoyed activities such as scouting, 4-H, and participating in demolition derbies. He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter and fisherman. His passions were being in the field with his dog Nellie or on the ice with his friends and fellow "Man Cave" V.I.P.'s. A great majority of Cameron's life was dedicated to the Hawley Boy Scouts, Troop 656, where he earned his Eagle Scout Award. They spent many summers at Camp Wilderness, where he learned precious life lessons about what is important and how to "Do a good turn daily". He was very willing to help a stranger or a friend. As a registered donor, he unselfishly gave so that others may live. Cameron is survived by parents, Lori and Leon Schlafmann of Hawley, MN; his brother, John Albert and John's fiancée, Stef Milde of Moorhead, MN; and his sister, Saundra Lea of Grand Forks, ND; grandparents, Kenneth and Carol Lelm of Turtle Lake, ND; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and more friends than ever imaginable. Welcomed in to Heaven by grandparents, Albert and Ruth Schlafmann. Memorials will be directed towards Cameron's favorite organizations and charities, like the Boy Scouts and Donate Life. "Once An Eagle, Always An Eagle".
