Carol M. Herr

Carol Marie Herr (Vanwie) of Alexandria, MN died in Eventide on Friday, October 11, 2024, in Moorhead, MN at the age of 83. 

Carol is survived by her sons Joseph Herr, Todd Herr, and Kevin Froemming; siblings Harry Haskins, Robert Haskins, and Ina (Grace) Randall; and her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Donald and Connie, sister-in-law Roxanne, and her late husbands William Herr and Miles Froemming. 

Carol was born on May 13, 1941, in Alexandria, MN to Frank and Esther Vanwie. She attended school until the 9th grade. She married her first husband William Herr, in 1963, after they fell in love while she was taking care of him. Carol gained 8 stepchildren in the marriage. After losing three daughters to miscarriages, the couple welcomed their son, Joseph Herr, into their home in December of 1965. She later met and married her second husband, Miles Froemming, with whom she had her two younger sons, Todd and Kevin. She never remarried after Miles passed.

Her family remembers her sense of humor, contagious laugh, and love of fishing, camping, traveling, blueberry picking, reading, and completing puzzles and word searches. Carol was also an avid walker, as she never received her driver’s license. 

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10 AM, with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carol’s life. The family would like to thank the staff at Eventide and Ethos Hospice for their care.
