Carol J. Erickson

Carol J. Erickson, 80, of Hawley, MN, died Friday, July 5, 2013 in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN.

Carol Jeanette Dauner was born on December 26, 1932 at home near Hawley, to William and Lucy Luthi Dauner. She grew up in Hawley, graduating from Hawley High School. She worked as a waitress at Ben Lee Café before marrying Wesley D. Erickson on June 24, 1951. They farmed together for 34 years, producing award-winning milk.

Carol had a zest for life. She participated in women’s softball, Birthday Club and Swinging Squares dancing group. She was a lifelong member of Hawley Lutheran Church, where she was very involved throughout the years in choir, quilting, ladies circle and council. Carol had a love for baking, cooking and sewing, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wesley, Hawley; children, Christy Joseph Robertson, Hawley, Lynn Angie Erickson, Hawley, Jill Reed Erickson-Keeney, Seattle, WA and Kirk Erickson, Sabin, MN; brother, James Darlene Dauner, Solway, MN; sister, Betty Chuck McDonald, Hawley; six grandchildren, Lynette Joel Money, Matthew Liz Robertson, Joshua Erickson, Jessica Andrew Lang, Christian Erickson and James Erickson; and ten great-grandchildren, Katherine, Madelaine, William, Isabella and Samantha Jo Anderson, Gage Erickson, Vincent Lang, BreAnna, Alisha and Michael Robertson.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William and Melvin, sisters Rose and Shirley, granddaughter Melissa Jo Robertson, and great-grandson Benjamin Joel Money.

Visitation: Wed., July 10, from 5 – 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7, in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley.

Funeral: Thurs, July 11 at 2 p.m. in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley.

Interment: Hawley Cemetery
