Carol K. Lewis

Carol Kay Lewis, 85, of Hawley, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

 Carol was born August 13, 1939, to Robert and Dorothy (Vice) Ault. She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN. Following high school, she continued her education at Minnesota State University Moorhead where she earned her degree in education. In 1961 she was married to William Lewis and they had 3 children together. They were later divorced. Carol enjoyed her career teaching at Hawley Elementary School. She loved engaging with her students, taking a lot of pride in her work. Over the years, she also enjoyed staying active in the community, volunteering and supporting many local organizations. Her greatest pride was in her 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Carol will be dearly missed.

 Carol is survived by her daughter, Lora (James) Venturella of Pittsburgh, PA; her son, Glen (Kathleen) Lewis of Maple Grove, MN; her grandchildren, Andrew (Elizabeth), Brooke, Brian, Nina (Ben), Matt, Reed; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Joanna, Lillian and Malachi; brother Jim, sister-in-law Mary and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Highness; grandson, Joshua Highness; brothers Robert and Jack; and sisters Marion and Joann.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, at 4 pm at the Hawley United Methodist Church in Hawley, MN. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service at the church.
