Carol Midthune

Carol M. Midthune, 94, Lake Park, MN, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Detroit Lakes, MN.
Carol Houglum was born on June 5, 1921 at Perley, MN, to Selmer and Pauline Shevlin Houglum. She attended rural school and graduated from high school at Borup, MN, in 1939. She attended Fargo Business College and then worked in Washington, D.C. for the War Department for a couple of years.
Carol married Andreen “Andy” Midthune on December 26, 1944. They lived in various places while he pursued his medical training and they settled in Lake Park in 1950.
Carol was a very active member of the Lake Park community, involved in the Legion Auxiliary, Peppy Parkers Homemakers Club, Lake Park Garden Club, the Lake Park Historical Club, and Lake Park Lutheran Church, where she served as church organist and was involved in Circle.
Andy died on September 11, 2005. Carol was living at Sunnyside in Lake Park at the time of her death.
Carol is survived by her sons, John Pam Midthune, Moorhead, MN, and Steve Diane Midthune, Lake Park, MN; daughters Pam Len Spaeth, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Paula Don Kranz, Savage, MN; sisters Ethel Hest, Ada, MN, and Betty Blevins, Lakeland, FL; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation: Monday, October 19, 2015, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Lake Park, MN, and one hour before the funeral at the church.
Funeral: Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN.
Interment: Lake Park Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.
