Casper Keller, age 98, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center.
Casper Keller was born on July 11, 1921 in Wellsburg, ND to John and Magdalene (Lesmeister) Keller. Casper went into the Army in 1942 and served for 3 years. After leaving the Army, he married the love of his life, Magdalene “Maggie” Hager on June 24, 1946. They farmed for 27 years near Harvey, ND, and started their family of four children: Ron, August, Eileen, and Madonna. In 1973, they moved to Ada, MN, where Casper owned a meat market and continued to farm part-time. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1978 and he began work at Leeby’s Food Market as the meat manager and continued to work there until his retirement at the age of 74. Following his retirement, Casper purchased a lake home on Leaf Lake where he spent majority of his time fishing with the grandchildren.
Casper had a strong faith in God and attended church every Sunday. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, gardening, fishing, processing meat for family and friends, and doing carpentry projects.
Casper is survived by two sons, Ron (Judy) Keller, Brookings, SD and August (Mary) Keller, Elk River, MN,; two daughters, Eileen (Randy) Martin, Fargo, ND, and Madonna (John) Mayer, Moorhead, MN; sister, Sister Hildegard, Hankinson, ND, five grandchildren, Casey, Tanya, Cole, Jason, Blaine (Becky); and five great-grandchildren.
Casper was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie; and his brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 5-7 P.M., with a prayer service starting at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
