Chuck was second to the youngest of 11 children born to Helen Riedberger and Emil Petermann, on the 5th of June, 1926. Chuck lived north of Hawley all of his life. He attended Hawley District 104 school, a two mile walk from his home. Growing up he farmed with his father on the land his father had homesteaded in 1900. Chuck married Lorilee Barth on September 4th, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Chuck and Lorilee continued to farm, until his retirement. Chuck was never far from the field or tractor however, helping family, friends and blowing snow over the following years with his favorite John Deeres. Chuck and Lorilee have spent 56 1/2 years of loving marriage together.Chuck was a lifelong member of Hawley Lutheran Church. His passion for hunting, fishing, and flying led him to serve as President of the Hawley Flying Club, Director of Hawley Rod and Gun, the Sabin Rod and Gun, and the Dark House Fisherman Assoc. Many fishing trips to Canada with friends and family over the years were arranged by Chuck. Chuck co-owned a plane at one time and in his later years never missed an opportunity to fly with others. Chuck took every opportunity to fish and hunt. He often shared his catch with others and there were many meals of fish and venison as a result of his efforts and good shot. His family was fortunate to share many of these experiences alongside him. After raising four children on the farm, they moved to Hawley in 1999. Their home was always a welcoming place to family and friends. Chuck liked life simple but was always ready for the next adventure.
