Charles J. Shuckhart, 88, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Lilac Homes in Moorhead. Charles was born to Charles and Margaret Shuckhart on December 31, 1931 the youngest of seven children.
He was born and raised in Graceville, MN. After graduating high school from Graceville, Charles joined the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. He then attended MSU, NDSU and Tri-College University earning degrees in the teaching field. On August 27, 1960 he married Mary Lou Larson at Norcross Lutheran Church in Norcross, MN.
Charles began his teaching career in Bertha, MN, then continued his teaching career in Hawley, MN, in 1962 where he taught business education and coached. Their son, Noel, was born that year and later a daughter, Wendy.
Charles especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, working at track meets and all sporting events with friends. He never missed a chance to watch all of his grandson’s in their activities. He retired from Hawley High School in 1991. He suffered a stroke in 2012. Charles then lived at River Pointe where he enjoyed the social activities, especially bingo and serving wine. Later he moved to Lilac Homes where he received special care.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; son, Noel; daughter, Wendy (Tim) Olson; grandsons, Cody, Matthew and Luke and sister, Mable Ashmore.
