Mrs. Henry L. Nelson Charlotte Heinichen passed away peacefully at age 96 on September 1, 2011.She was one of six children. While a teenager she met Henry, her husband of 53 years, at a barn dance. A few years later they married and began farming. The farm was sold in 1962 and they bought the Allis-Chalmers dealership in Hawley, which they operated until Henry's death in 1987.Lottie enjoyed growing both flowers and vegetables well past age 90. Family favorites were her homemade bread, graham cracker pies and baked beans. She was a long time member of 4-H, Homemakers and Hawley Garden Club. She sewed most of her clothing, loved playing the piano, won most games of Scrabble, and was active at both Lysne and Hawley Lutheran Churches over the years.Lottie's family was very important to her, and she especially loved talking with the children and young adults.She is survived by her loving family of four children: Kermit Beverly, Gene Marlene, Letty, and Darlene Delbert Tysdal, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Lottie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; one son, Eugene; her parents, Willy and Emma Heinichen; two brothers, Fritz Heinichen of San Diego and Rudy Heinichen of Hawley; and three sisters, Wally Peck of Hawley, Gertrude Halverson and Margaret Connolly both of San Diego.The family would like to gratefully acknowledge all the loving, devoted care which Lottie received both at Eventide Fairmont and Sanford Health Palliative Care.
