Charlotte E. Monson

Charlotte E. Graves Monson, age 72, of West Fargo, ND, died on Monday, October 1, 2012, in Sheyenne Crossings, West Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Charlotte Ellen Graves was born on August 4, 1940, to Claude and Irma Lane Graves in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1959. Charlotte worked as a secretary at the NDSU Veterinary Services office for a few years before becoming a nanny, followed by a home daycare for 20 years. On May 26, 1967, she married Wesley Monson in Fargo, ND. Together they had four children. Charlotte and Wesley were foster parents for over 25 years. Wesley died on January 9, 1993. Charlotte was very active in her church community in many capacities including the President of the Missionaries Committee. She loved porcelain dolls, making dresses and costumes of all sorts as well as cooking and planning family events and meals. Most important to her however, was her love for her Savior Jesus Christ and sharing Him with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Marie Daniel Arneson of Firestone, CO, Lisa Brian Jensen of Fargo, ND, Jennifer Kevin Jones of Firestone, CO, and Teresa fiancé, Aaron Davidson Kaste of Fargo, ND; brother, Donald Cheryl Graves of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Donna Richard Wolden of Hasting, MN, and Kathy Brolin of Detroit Lakes, MN, as well as ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Irma Graves; sister, Eleanor Aus and son-in-law, Todd Kaste.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for Charlotte's family to pass on to the charities she supported.
