Clarence A. "Bud" Ostgarden, 84, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Bud was born October 3, 1927, in Fargo, ND, to Clarence and Agnes Viken Ostgarden. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. At the age of two, his family moved from Fargo to Fertile, MN. He attended Fertile high school until his junior year and then moved to Muskegon, MI, where he graduated from high school in 1945. After high school, he entered the United States Navy, serving from 1945-1948. After the tour of duty, Bud attended technical school in Klammath Falls, OR, for two years. He then returned to Fertile and worked at Gamble's Hardware. He married Janice Moteberg, daughter of Carl and Alice Lindberg Moteberg, on March 18, 1955. Bud and Janice moved to Fargo in 1957. He had worked at Fertile Laundry and Cleaners which later became American Linen Company, so he was able to continue working with the company in Fargo for the next 33 years. Bud retired in 1990 and enjoyed spending much of his time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved golfing and camping, but most of all enjoyed the time with his family. Bud was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice; sons, Steve Elaine of Gary, MN, Mark Karen of Valley City, ND, Tim Lynnette of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Troy, Eric Megan, Amy Kelly Solie, Alison Kelly Voss, Joseph, Charbara Rodney Anna, Miranda; great-grandchildren, Travien Anna, Brendon Anna, Gracie Solie and Jacob Voss. He is also survived by his sister, Grace Aker of East Grand Forks, MN; sister-in-law, Marian Ostgarden of Mankato, MN; aunt, Orpha Edger; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Oris.
