Clifford E. Lomsdal, 86, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Clifford Elmer Lomsdal was born on June 30, 1920 to Knute and Olga Iverson Lomsdal on the family farm in Hitterdal, MN. He grew up and attended school in Hitterdal, graduating from Hitterdal High School in 1939. Cliff was a baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, where he was a member until moving to Moorhead in 1992. On October 16, 1948 he married Doris Peterson in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, together they had three children. Cliff worked for Armour Packing Co., a local Seed House and farmed in Verona, ND for two years before he started farming in the rural Hitterdal area. He also worked for American Crystal Sugar Co. for 18 years while he was farming. Cliff retired from farming in 1985. In 1992 he and Doris moved to Moorhead where they could be closer to their children. In retirement, Cliff took pride in working as a greeter for the Target store in Moorhead for a couple of years. He enjoyed dancing, especially the polka, music, horses, his four grandchildren, and visiting with family and friends.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Peterson of Moorhead, MN; two sons, Les Nancy Lomsdal of Moorhead, MN and Ron Kathy Lomsdal of Fargo, ND; one daughter, Beth Flint Ashmore of Moorhead, MN; one sister, Carlla Ramstad of Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren, Janelle, Randi, Nicole and Brock; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lambert, Obert, Clifford, Leonard and Eddie Lomsdal; and two sisters, Harriet Dunham and Bernice Hendrickson.
