Clifford I. Nelson

Clifford I. Nelson, 92, of Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN, formerly of 825 8th Avenue East, West Fargo, ND, died on Monday, June 5, 2005 at MeritCare Hospital, South Campus, Fargo, ND. Clifford was born on April 28, 1914 at Duncombe, Iowa, the son of Iver and Ella Thompson Nelson. He grew up and attended school in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. After school he served in the C.C.C.'s May 27, 1933 to September 30, 1934. He married Winifred Scott on December 24, 1937 at Ft. Dodge, Iowa. After their marriage they made their home in Des Moines, Iowa where he worked for Sears & Roebuck and Company. They moved to Waubun, MN where he continued to work for Sears – Roebuck and Company in Fargo, ND as manager of the Hardware Dept until his retirement in 1976. After retiring they lived at Big Elbow Lake, Waubun, MN. Winifred died on April 13, 2000. Clifford then moved to West Fargo, ND, where he resided until January 2006 when he resided at Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN. Clifford is survived by three sons, Eugene E. Nelson, West Fargo, ND, James S. Susan Nelson, Fargo, ND and Jerry C. Kathy Nelson, Waubun, MN; four grandchildren, Sarah VanderLinde David, San Jose, CA, David Nelson, Fargo, ND, Jonathan Nelson, Fargo, ND, and Iver Nelson, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Winifred and two brothers, Floyd and Robert Nelson. Cliffored was active in the Mason's, East Gate Lodge #120, the Order of the Eastern Star, Mecca Chapter, El Zagal Shrine Patrol and was Potentate aide to Jim Johnson.
