Clyde R. Mcarthur

Clyde R. McArthur Sr., 68, of Moorhead, MN died Thursday, January 31, 2013, passing peacefully into God’s arms at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND – surrounded by his family.

Clyde Robert McArthur Sr. was born on November 21, 1944, in White Earth, MN, to Bernard and Delphine “Tita” Ross McArthur. He grew up in Mahnomen, MN, where he attended St. Michael’s Catholic School, graduated from Mahnomen High School, and then attended Bemidji State University. Clyde served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, serving as a radar man on the USS Constellation. Clyde married Carol Omlid in May, 1965 in Bremerton, WA. Together they had three children.

Loving father of Bob Kathy McArthur, Fargo, and Wayne Shanna McArthur, Moorhead; daughter, Amanda McArthur, Moorhead; and seven grandchildren. Clyde enjoyed time with his children, coaching their sports, camping, and family vacations. He proudly listened to his son, Wayne, playing music. Most of all, Clyde lived for his grandchildren and always bragged about them. He was very involved in his grandchildren’s lives by going to their sports and events, taking them out bumming, having sleepovers, going on spy missions and dates.

Cherished brother of four brothers, Jack, Steve, Scott and Timmy Barb McArthur; five sisters, Lulu Don Goodwin, Sue Ron Bellefeuille, Nancy Bratvold, Vernie Dennis Hisgun and Tammy McArthur; and many nieces and nephews. He spent many happy summers fishing on Strawberry Lake. He would look forward to Elder’s Day in Mahnomen with his siblings. Overall, spending time with family was Clyde’s pride and joy. Clyde had a place in his heart for everyone.

Loved ones will remember his beaming smile, adventurous spirit, sense of humor, and delight in life. Whether holding a cup of coffee and a conversation, making a wise remark, or setting tile with the craftsmanship for which he was known, his smile and laugh were infectious. Clyde loved to laugh and dance every chance he could. He made the day brighter.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bunky LaFriniere, Mary Ann Keogh and Inka Tangen; and grandson, Brett McArthur.

Memorial Gathering: Monday, February 4, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at The Recovery Worship in The Gathering 3910 25th St S, Fargo, ND.
