Collette Dominguez, 49, died Monday, April 6, 2020 at Essentia Health.
Collette Marie Benkowski-Dominguez was born in Detroit Lakes, MN to Joyce Hubert and James Bevins. Collette was adopted and raised by Elizabeth Woodby and Adolf Benkowski spending most of her childhood in Milwaukee, WI, returning to Detroit Lakes, MN and graduating high school there. As an adult Collette worked very hard for Swanson’s Health Products for 16 years while raising her beautiful children, and eventually was forced to stop working due to health complications. In spite of her health, Collette found much joy in spending more time with her family.
Collette’s pride and joy has always been her family. Martin Perojo and Collette (of 24 years), had Amber, Rico, Alyssa, and Antonio, with grandchildren Iris (Alyssa & Ryan), Ariana (Rico) and one granddaughter due August (Rico & Taylor). She later married Mike Dominguez in October of 2013.
Collette lived everyday sharing her adoration and BIG love for her grandbabies, which gave her so much love and happiness. She never wanted to miss a minute, and would send videos to her sweet Iris during these times in which she could not see her. Traditions and family were Collette’s treasures and she shared that with her children/family with Sunday brunch, family night, movie day and just spending any free time she had filled with being close to her loved ones. Collette was a fantastic cook and shared this gift with her children. All of her family gatherings were filled with her recipes, games, and music. She had a bright personality that was goofy, fun, electric but mostly full of LOVE.
Collette is survived by her mother Elizabeth, Father James, husband Mike Dominguez, siblings, Roy Woodby, April Bevins, Tiffany Bevins, Jamie Bevins, Carleen O’Malley, Tami Stauber, Gail Bronk, Heather Oemig, Robyn Polak, her children Rico (Taylor) Perojo, Alyssa (Ryan) Cornette, Antonio Perojo and grandchildren Iris (Alyssa), Ariana and grandbaby on the way (Rico). Along with several step children, nieces and nephews.
