Connie D. Bates

Connie was born on August 20, 1946 to Edward and Dorothy Fritzsche Brown in Huron, SD. She graduated from Wessington High School, Wessington, SD. She graduated with a B.A. from South Dakota State University in 1990. On December 18, 1967, she married George Bates in Miller, SD. Together they had four children. George died on November 15, 2003. Connie enjoyed reading, crafting and listening to music. She had a passion for knowledge. She was a strong advocate for helping people learn more about ovarian cancer, its symptoms and treatment. Despite her diagnosis, limitations never existed in her life.Connie is survived by her mother, Dorothy Brown, Cedar Falls, IA; one son, Christopher Amy Bates, Oak Hill, VA; three daughters, Kip Kruse, Columbia, SC, Kelly Antoni Bates Felany, Fargo, ND, and Jody Andrew Conley, Brookings, SD; one brother, Lynn Brown, Wessington, SD; one sister, Nola Jerry Roitsch, Bristol, SD; one granddaughter, Chelsea Kruse and one grandson, Connor Bates.She was preceded in death by her father, Edward; her step-father, Harold; and her husband George Bates.
