October 11, 1924 — April 27, 2018

Constance Mae (Connie) Kopp

Connie Kopp, 93, Dilworth, MN, formerly Glyndon, MN, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018.

Connie was born on October 11, 1924, on the family farm 4 miles NW of Glyndon. She was the youngest of 6 children born to Charles and Edith Gilbery. She attended Grover School until 5th grade, then she transferred to Glyndon High School in 6th grade. She graduated from Glyndon High School in 1942 and then attended Fargo Business School for one year. She went to work for Bell Telephone. In 1944 she moved to Pepin, WI to serve as bookkeeper for Farmers Union feed business. She met her future husband John D. Kopp in Pepin. They were married on November 4, 1944 at Camp Roberts in California. John left for his military service duty in South Korea and returned in 1945. They lived happily hand in hand through 62 years of marriage. Connie and John had two daughters, Linda Mary born in 1945 and Mary Elizabeth in 1947. They remained in California until 1956 when they returned to Glyndon to purchase and live on the family farm. In 1969 they ventured into their own plumbing company, Kopp Plumbing and Heating, where Connie was their bookkeeper until they retired in 1987. After their retirement they spent winters in Mesa, AZ and summers at Lee Lake Campground near Hawley, MN. In 2002 they moved to Moorhead. After John’s death, Connie moved to Serenity Assisted Living in Dilworth, MN, where she lived for eight years and developed many wonderful friendships while still keeping in touch with her Lee Lake friends. Connie was a very active lady all her life. She snowmobiled, golfed, bowled, showed dogs, traveled all over the USA and to England to her mother’s family home, farmed, sewed, delivered mail and was very active in 4-H, and the Glyndon Lioness club.

Connie is preceded in death by her dear husband, John Kopp, her parents and all her siblings.
