Dagmar Arlene Anderson

January 26, 1925 — November 12, 2020

On Thursday, November 12th, Dagmar A. Anderson of Hawley MN went to her Heavenly Home. Dagmar elected to have Hospice of The Red River Valley help to make her journey more comfortable. We are forever thankful to Grandma Dagmar and to Hospice for allowing us to spend valuable time with her during her final days in her own home.

Dagmar was born January 26,1925 in Bowbells, ND to Ole and Inga (Anderson) Christianson. She attended country school in rural Bowbells and later finished out her high school career in Coteau, ND. She played on the high school basketball team and was proud of her athletic abilities, winning several awards for her shooting skills. Dagmar married Harold Anderson on September 6th, 1942 in Coteau, ND; after their wedding, they moved to Flaxton, ND and later, Leonard, ND. In 1954, Harold and Dagmar established their forever home in Hawley Minnesota. Dagmar passed away in the house that Harold built for her. The same home where she hosted many family dinners and holiday celebrations. Dagmar worked for 38 years as the City Clerk in Hawley; she was very active in the community, being a member of Solem Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary.

Harold and Dagmar were awarded the Hawley Nugget Booster Club’s Fans Of The Year due to their faithful support of Nugget Athletics; they rarely missed a game, and traveled all across the Heart of Lakes area to watch their grandchildren play ball. Dagmar loved the Minnesota Twins, she enjoyed attending the games in person or just watching them on television, anyone was welcome to sit on her couch and watch with her. Fishing was one of Dagmar’s hobbies, she loved to take her kids and grandkids on camping trips. Treating her entire family to a fishing trip to Devils Lake was always the highlight of her year. Her other hobby was crocheting afghans, she made beautiful blankets for her friends and family. She put a lot of time and love into each blanket, making getting one all the more special. Dagmar spent many winters in Arizona and had the opportunity to visit with several of her extended family members.

Family was always the most important thing to her. Dagmar is survived by her two adoring children, Cleo Job and Harlan (Brigitte) Anderson; her blessed grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Anderson, Danny (Kerri) Anderson, and Barbra (Jason) Brookshire; four great-grandchildren that she adored with all of her heart, Hoyt, Emma, Morgen, and Lennon. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold; parents, Ole and Inga; son-in-law, Perry Job; and 13 brothers and sisters. What a beautiful reunion they are having now that Dagmar has arrived.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7 P.M., followed by a prayer service at 7 P.M. on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN. A Family funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN with a livestream of the service on Dagmar”s webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a guestbook and video tribute may also be found.
