Dale Russell Sylvander

Dale Russell Sylvander, 87, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, in the V.A. Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Dale was born on April 8, 1931 to Hjalmer and Esther (Fagerstrom) Sylvander in Warren, MN. He was raised in the Viking, MN area. He married the love of his life, Carol Swenson, on February 9, 1957 at Thief River Falls, MN. Dale served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959 stationed in Fulda, Germany.

Upon returning from the military, Dale began working as a mechanic for the Moorhead Public Schools. He worked there for 27 years until his retirement. In his retirement years, Dale enjoyed woodworking and spending time with Carol and his family.

Dale is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Steven Sylvander, New Brighton, MN, Bruce (Elizabeth) Sylvander, Dilworth, MN, and Kent Sylvander, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Joshua Murphy, Leland, NC, and Chelsea Murphy, Tecumseh, MI; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Esther; sister, Marie Anderson; and niece, Jolayne Anderson.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Moorhead Memorial Gardens following the service.
