Daniel Thomas Thomson Ii

Daniel Thomson Sr., age 76 of Hawley, MN died Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Daniel Thomas Thomson was born on October 8, 1942 in Moorhead, MN to Daniel and Alma Thomson.  Daniel lived in Sabin, MN until moving to Hawley where he met his wife, Betty Lamon.  Daniel and Betty were married on October 19, 1963 and started a family together in Hawley.

Dan worked at Cominco American Fertilizer Plant in Dilworth for over 30 years, he then drove gravel truck for 10 years before retiring due to health issues.

Dan enjoyed fishing and camping at Camper’s Cove with his wife Betty.  He couldn’t get home fast enough from camping to mow the grass.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Betty of Hawley; son, Dan Thomson, Jr. (friend Kathy) of Fargo; daughters, Terri (Brian) Giere of Hawley;  Cindy (Kelly) Amann of Hawley; nine grandchildren,  Aaron, Holly, Ryan, Justin, Tylor, Jessica, Kyla, Erica, and Paige; eleven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Jean Lapena, Nancy Haile, and Mary Ann Thomson, all of Las Vegas, Susan Kasin and Barb Nord, both of Hawley; brother, Kenny Thomson, Washington.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas “Tom” Thomson.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 12, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Hawley, MN. A private family graveside service will be held.
