Daria Joy Waller Askegaard was born on November 26, 1952 in Ada, M N. to Wallace and Adeline Kindseth Waller. She grew up in Twin Valley and Barnesville, MN. She was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1971. She was a class officer and involved in many activities. Daria attended Moorhead State College graduating in 1976 with a degree in Medical Technology. She began working immediately upon graduation at Dakota Clinic in Fargo where she worked for 26 years. She was the chemistry supervisor and helped set up the chemistry laboratory at Dakota Clinic/Innovis Hospital. Daria married Ed Askegaard on July 16, 1977 in Barnesville, MN. They made their home at 108 38th Circle Avenue, in Moorhead. She traveled both nationally and internationally and especially loved beaches. She described herself as "lucky".Daried loved her family. She was full of life to her 25 nieces and nephews; her 4 great nieces and nephews and her 6 godchildren. She counted her friends among her "family" and had "sisters" too numerous to mention. Throughout her twelve year battle with cancer, Daria was a mentor and source of strength and encouragement to many others who faced challenges.She is survived by her husband, Ed; her children, Leah of Rochester and Ben of Moorhead; her four brothers, Waldo Deb of Goleta, CA; Brian Sue of Grantsburg, WI; Mark of Barnesville, MN; Kim Nancy of Glyndon, MN; her mother-in-law, Gertrude Askegaard of Comstock, MN her in-laws; Tom Kathy Askegaard of Comstock, MN; Anne Rick Brakke; Ruth Scott Blilie; Andrew Marion Askegaard all of Moorhead, MN; 26 nieces and nephews; 4 great nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
