Darlene M. Nord

Darlene M. Nord, 88 of Ulen, MN passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Viking Manor, Ulen, MN.

Darlene was born in Richardton, ND on March 3, 1936, to Homer and Leona (Davis) Hettenbaugh. When she was 10 the family moved to Glyndon, MN and Darlene graduated from Glyndon High School in 1954.

In 1955 Darlene married Roger Nord and they moved to Roger’s family farm in Hitterdal, MN, which they ran until 1986. She was a dedicated farm wife and always had fresh donuts and buns ready when the kids came home from school. After selling the farm they moved to Tucson, AZ where Darlene worked at the University of Arizona on their grounds crew for nearly 12 years, before returning to Hitterdal. 

Darlene loved gardening and grew and sold raspberries every summer. She loved entertaining family at the lake and very much enjoyed an evening S’more by the campfire.

In 2013 Roger and Darlene moved into Viking Manor assisted living. Roger passed away in November of 2022. 

Darlene is survived by her children, Lorelei Corwin, Brenda (Jeff) West-Dusek, Val (Gary) Jacobson, and Eric (Suzette) Nord; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gwen Nodsle, and Jeanne Seter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law, Dave Corwin.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 4-6 PM with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Final resting place will be in Highland Grove Lutheran Cemetery, Hitterdal, MN.
