Darlene Solie

Darlene “Dar” Solie, age 77, of Moorhead, MN died on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Darlene Pearl Ulland was born February 12, 1944 to Doryce and Palmer Ulland in Fertile, Minnesota. She lived with her older sister, Patricia and her parents in rural Rindal, MN. She attended rural country grade school and graduated from Fertile High School in 1962. She became a licensed beautician and worked in Mahnomen, MN. She met and dated James Solie in 1963 and they were married on Dec 26, 1964. They lived in Moorhead and she again worked as a beautician until the birth of their first child. For many years she operated ‘Dar’s Ceramic Shop’ out of her home’s basement where she held weekly ceramics classes. She bowled in a league for many, many years at Sunset Lanes in Moorhead. Until recent years, Dar was very social and loved going out with friends and playing BINGO. She loved spending time with her family, especially her 3 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Dar was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pat, and her beloved son, Matt.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim Solie of Moorhead, MN; her daughter, Brande (Chris) Korfe of Moorhead, MN; her grandchildren, Solie, Seth, and Teddy Korfe of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Roxanne (Bob) Shaw of Excelsior, MN; brother-in-law, Terry (Kathy) Solie of Bettendorf, IA; and her nieces and nephew.

Dar requested there be no funeral. There will be a graveside memorial at a later date.
