Darlene Y. Karlin

Darlene Yvonne Walker-Torkelson Karlin passed away peacefully on June 3, 2005, surrounded by family at the Viking Manor Nursing Home.Darlene was born on April 19, 1941 to Orran and Aurellia Walker at Swift, MN. She moved to Hawley at the age of 13 and graduated in 1959 from Hawley High School. She married Dennis Torkelson, Sr. in December of 1960 and had five children. They were divorced in 1974. In 1982 she was united in marriage to Donald Karlin. Darlene worked at CJ's Caf? in Hawley for many years. She also worked for the senior nutrition program in Hawley until her diagnosis with cancer in the spring of 2003. Darlene loved to crochet, knit, decorate cakes and spend coffee time with her many friends.Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, 3 brothers, Ronnie, Billy & Dennis, and a sister, Bonnie.She is survived by three brothers, Doug, Jim and Phil; one sister, Connie; five children, Cynthia Doug Dusbabek, Hawley, MN, Rhonda Russell Peterman, New York Mills, MN, Tammy Jim Linder, Ray, MN, Dennis Torkelson, Jr, Hawley, MN, Lisa Torkelson, Moorhead, MN; eleven grandchildren, Brian & Brandon Dusbabek, Jeramie Torkelson, Amanda, Samantha & Jacklyn Peterman, Jon, Jr. & Travis Braton, Chelsey & Haley Linder, and Justin Braton; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Willard Thompson, Ulen, MN.
