Darrel R. Moser

Family and friends mourn the passing of Darrel R. Moser on August 25th, 2024.

Darrel was born on May 30th, 1934 in Streeter, North Dakota to Carl L. Moser and Alma Meidinger. Darrel attended Streeter Public Schools, graduating in the class of 1952. During his time at Streeter High School, his passion was basketball where Darrel was the captain and leading scorer on the Bobcats team. Additionally, Darrel developed a lifelong interest in cars as he and his friends spent countless hours sitting on the bench in front of Streeter Auto. Following high school, Darrel became part of a painting crew servicing the Northern Pacific railroad. Darrel married his high school sweetheart, Amy Eisenbeis, on January 16th, 1955. Their first son, Carey, was born in 1956. A second son named Kevin was born in 1958. The family lived in Jamestown, North Dakota. There, they established the Moser Painting and Decorating business, which was relocated upon their move to Fargo, North Dakota in 1957. In 1962, Darrel began a thirty-year career as a clerk in the Fargo Post Office. He was a popular figure with many customers who enjoyed his smile and quick wit. Painting continued to be a part of his life, both professionally and for family and friends alike. Following his retirement from the post office, Darrel volunteered as a blood bank delivery driver for numerous years. Darrel was a long-term member of the Valley Vintage Car Club, which gave him the opportunity to show several of his cars, including various 1930’s Fords and a 1961 Corvette. Darrel was a constant presence at regional car shows. Furthermore, Darrel was an avid cast iron toy collector, and held a table at the Dyersville, Iowa Farm and Toy Show for more than 30 years. Darrel was a regular participant at farm auctions and estate sales, often serving as a resource to others. Darrel was known as a great storyteller with an amazing retention for people, places, and events. Always ready with a joke, he often lit up a room with laughter. Darrel loved his family, his toys, and an evening brandy. We will miss him and know his spirit remains in the hearts of all who knew him.

Darrel is survived by his sons, Carey (Angie) and Kevin (Suzanne), four grandchildren; Michael, Steven (Anna), Daniel (Corrine), and Alexis (Kenyan) and five great-grandchildren; Jack, Emily, Finn, Mac, and Jude. He was preceded in death by his wife Amy.
