David J. Bakken

David J. Bakken, 60, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, under the care of family and Sanford Hospice. Dave was born August 3, 1964, to Vernon and Violet (Nelson) Bakken. He grew up and attended school in Milnor, ND, where he graduated from high school. Following high school, Dave began his career driving truck. On October 21, 2006, he married Sharon Oliver. Together they made their home in Hawley and Dave continued driving truck. Over the years, he loved his time on the road and seeing the country. In his early years, he enjoyed farming and participated in 4-H. In recent years, he also enjoyed helping the community through HERT in Hawley and helping youth as a Firearm Safety Intructor. Dave will be remembered for his humor and wit, which never left him. He will be dearly missed. 

Dave is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Melissa (Steve) Wendt, Karrie (Shane) Froehler; five grandchildren, Mariah, Trinity, Ryan, Nate and Leanna; brothers, Harold (Roberta) and Calvin Bakken; nieces, nephews and special friends, he left behind 5 special feline children.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial gathering will be held Friday, September 27, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
