David J. Engeseth

David Jerome Engeseth, 81, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at his home. David was born in Lake Park on May 24, 1936, to Ernest and Violette (Olson). He graduated from Lake Park High School and later enlisted in the North Dakota Air Guard in 1959. In July of 1960, David married Marlys Rian. Together they farmed near Lake Park and started a family. David continued to farm until selling the farmstead in 1979. Over the years, he enjoyed spending time outdoors doing yardwork for friends and family. He also enjoyed staying busy in the years after farming, traveling the region buying and selling decorative decanters. In the summers, he worked road construction for Sellin Bros. and Harvey Nelson Construction. He always had time to lend a hand and tell a story over a hot cup of coffee. He will be dearly missed.

David is survived by his daughters, Sheila (David) Juran of Wayzata, MN, Marla (Todd) Branden of Audubon, MN, Lysa Flynn of St. Paul, MN; sons, Wayne (Lori) Engeseth of Lake Park, MN, Kevin Engeseth of Hawley, MN; grandchildren, Dustin (Angie) Johnson, Marhya (Ryan) Johnson, Eva (Mark) Jenson, Nate Branden, John Engeseth, Dane Mosher, Ingrid Flynn, Victoria Branden, Hadley Juran, Ana Flynn; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and son-in-law, Vince Flynn.

Visitation will be Friday, May 11, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., at Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN.

Interment will be at Lake Park Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
