David was born on August 8, 1942 to L. Milo and Ruth E. Matson in Moorhead, MN. He was raised and attended schools in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1960. Following graduation, he entered the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. After his discharge he returned to Moorhead and attended Moorhead State College, graduating in 1969. He worked as an accountant in Denver, CO, for several years. He was also self-employed in Denver for many years. In 2005, he got back together with his high school sweetheart, Eunice Light Luke in Denver, CO. He and Eunice have since opened and operated an adult foster care home called Valkommen-Hem Inn, located in Fergus Falls, MN. David is survived by his wife, Eunice Matson; son, Bradley Thompson and wife Debbie of Glyndon, MN; daughter, Rebecca Keller and fiancee Kevin Harris of Mustang, OK; step daughters, Stephanie Gresh and husband David, Stacy Lochowicz and husband Peter, both of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Nathan Thompson of Fargo, ND, Kayla Thompson of Glyndon, MN, Katie Thompson of Glyndon, MN, Lucien Keller and Svaya Keller of Mustang, OK; step grandson, Matthew Gresh of Denver, CO; brothers, Duane E. Matson of Florida, Earl E. Matson and wife Nancy of Estes Park, CO, and Paul L. Matson and wife Kathleen of Henderson, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents.
