David Marlow McLaren, 90, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. David McLaren was born on May 31, 1920, in Fargo, ND, to Harry and Mary Beaton McLaren. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo High School. He enlisted in the military in October, 1940. On June 24, 1942, he married Dona Lee in Fort Lewis, Washington. David was honorably discharged from the Army in September, 1945. He was employed by Northwestern Bell and retired in 1983. David was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Communications Workers of America, Qwest Pioneers Chapter 118, Sons of Norway, C-400, American Legion Post 0021, VFW, and Moorhead 40 et 8. David is survived by two daughters, DiAnn LeRoy Zimmerman, Alexandria, MN and Susan Jay Wolterstorff, Duluth, MN; four grandchildren, David Denise Zimmerman, Trabuco Canyon, CA, Denise Jason Norheim, Alexandria, MN, Erik Christy Ringerud, Toluca Lake, CA and Holly Ringerud, Tempe, AZ, and five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kaylee Zimmerman, Sean, Kari and Jaden Norheim; and special friend, Dorothy Myhra. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona, his parents, five brothers and four sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Eventide Foundation.
