David Odegaard

David was born in Lake Park on December 17, 1926 to Herman and Mattie Christiansen Odegaard. He grew up and attended school, graduating from Lake Park High School. After high school he continued to farm with his family. On November 18, 1951 he married Sarah Barry in Detroit Lakes, MN. They settled in Lake Park together and started a family. David continued to farm until 1972. For many years he worked both on the farm and as a machinist for Crystal Sugar. He retired from Crystal Sugar in 1995. David was a talented carpenter and machinist. He built their first home with his own hands and took much pride in his work. He enjoyed helping people and was always willing to lend a hand to others. He will be dearly missed by friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sarah of Lake Park, MN; son, Mike Barb of Moorhead, MN; daughters, Debbie Jim Hermann of Georgetown, MN, and Pam Monte Pederson of Georgetown, MN; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Emily Odegaard; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.David was preceded in death by his son, David; parents, Herman and Mattie; brother, Dean; and sister, Greta.
