Davis B. ’Dave’ Kosen

Davis B. "Dave" Kosen, age 83, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, May 4, 2009, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Davis Bennie Kosen was born on March 21, 1926 to Bennie and Alice Paranto Kosen in St. Ansgar's Hospital, Moorhead, MN. He grew up and attended Rural Country School in Clay County. Davis served in the United States Army in Okinawa, Japan during World War II in 1945. On November 24, 1947 he married Olive Haroldson in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Together, Olive and Davis had two children, Dave and Karel. Davis worked for Cook Sign of Fargo for 47 years before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed spending time at their lake cottage on Big Pelican for 44 years. Davis' greatest joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Olive Kosen of Moorhead, MN; one son, Dave Kim Kosen of Glyndon, MN; one daughter, Karel Anthony Varriano of Moorhead, MN; one brother, Gary Dodi Kosen of Moorhead, MN; five sisters, Darline Brager of Missoula, MT, Annie Burnette of San Bernardino, CA, Geraldine Granfor of Las Vegas, NV, Adeline Drummond of Fargo, ND and Mavis Lura of Moorhead, MN; seven grandchildren: Chad Varriano, Kristi Peter Hilton, Melissa Varriano, Cassie Steve Hoffman, Carrie Kosen, Davey Kosen, Amber Kosen and four great-grandchildren: Lucy Hilton, Quincy Hilton, Mason Hoffman and Kayleb Kosen.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman "Korky" and Melvin Kosen, and an infant son.
