Deacon Stephen Frank Nemeth

Deacon Stephen F. Nemeth, age 78, of Dilworth, MN took the divine retirement plan on Friday August 18, 2017. The son of Helen and Stephen Nemeth, he attended school and was raised in New Jersey. He served in the US Navy until 1962, when he was honorably discharged and married his bride, Clementine, in May 1962. He served as a police officer in Edison, New Jersey for 21 years before retiring, raising two daughters, travelling, and enjoying spending time with family and friends.

In November 1990, Steve was initiated as a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was ordained as a Deacon in May 1994 at the Diocese of Metuchen New Jersey, serving for 5 years at St. Matthew’s RC Church. Steve and Clem moved to Pennsylvania to retire to a more casual lifestyle, Steve served as a Deacon at St. Peter’s RC Church of Coplay, Pennsylvania for 11 years before relocation to Dilworth to be closer to his grandchildren. Steve served as Deacon at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church of Dilworth for 9 years and was the Grand Knight when St. Elizabeth’s started their K of C council. Steve enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially the trees in the park at Christmas time, and making fond memories with family and friends. Steve also enjoyed visiting and providing prayer services to the residents of Serenity.

Steve is survived by wife, Clem of 55 years; daughters, Sharon May Todd of Horace and Gail of Fargo; grandchildren, Zack and Samantha; sisters, Helen McIntire of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Buchko of Delaware and several nieces and nephews. Steve is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation: Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Dilworth, MN, from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Service: Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Dilworth, MN, beginning at 10:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead, MN, following the services.
