Dean Wardell Iverson, 86, of Lake Park, MN, died Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Dean was born November 15, 1930 in Hitterdal, MN, to Julius and Gale Anderson Iverson. He was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal and graduated from Hitterdal High School. Dean married Beverly Roen at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN, on September 27, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany for 1 ½ years.
Dean farmed until 1975 and then owned and operated Iverson Welding and Machine. He later plowed snow for Cuba Township and was on the Cuba Township Board for fifty-one years. He was a member of the Buffalo Cemetery Board, on the Board of Directors of Detroit Lakes Technical College, Hitterdal Elevator Board, Farm Bureau President, Commander at the Lake Park Legion, and was on the council of Highland Grove Lutheran Church for forty years. He was named Outstanding Young Farmer of Becker County in 1966. He was also on the Western Minnesota Steam Thresher’s Board of Directors, Advisory Committee, Safety Director and conducted Tractor Driving Class.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Sheila Sherwood Nelson, and Shirley Paul Rustad; three grandchildren, Nicholas Tocarra Nelson, Jennifer Brady Neros and Andrew Amy Nelson; ten great-grandchildren, London and Ireland Nelson, Chelsea, Taya and Lily Neros, Sawyer, Samuel, Isaac, Ingrid and Elsie Nelson; brother, Rolland Bette Iverson; and sister-in-law, Jean Iverson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, DeForrest; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: one hour before services in the church.
Funeral: Wednesday, February 22, 2017, 11:00 a.m., Eksjo Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN.
Interment: Buffalo River Pioneer Cemetery, rural Hitterdal, MN.
