Delbert Allen Boyle Sr., 96, died on June 9, 2004 at Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN. Delbert was born April 20, 1908 to Frank C. and Myrtle Crompton-Krueger Boyle in Wetonka, SD.Delbert grew up and worked in the Wetonka, SD area. He married Isabel McAllen on September 21, 1925 in Ipswitch, SD. They farmed in the Wetonka area until they moved to Lockhart, MN in 1934. They farmed there until 1940 when they moved to a farm northeast of Felton, MN. They farmed there until 1946 when they moved to Felton and Delbert farmed a section of land Southeast of Felton. In 1957 Delbert had a stroke which caused him to have an auction of the farm machinery. Later he went into partnership with Algar Larson in a garage in Felton. After selling the garage, Delbert built and operated a grocery store and locker plant in Felton. He sold that in 1949 and bought the Felton Cafe. He and Isabel operated that until 1951. He then worked for area farmers until they moved to The Fairmont East Assisted Living apartments.While living in Felton, Delbert was active in the Felton Community Club and took part in community plays, called for square dances and Bingo. He drove school bus for the Felton School system for many years and made many friends among the school children.Delbert kept busy as a Senior Companion, operated a small "grocery store" at The Fairmont and called bingo every week. He was declared The Champion Bingo Caller from 1982-1989.Isabel passed away in 1984. Delbert married Betty Hendrickson in 1986 and later divorced. In 1988 Delbert moved to The Living Center in the eventide complex and continued to call Bingo. He entered Eventide Nursing Home in 1996. Delbert enjoyed playing cards and would play whist and/or pinochle whenever a game could be arranged.Delbert is survived by his daughter, Marie Boyle-Miller Penuel, Fargo, ND; two sons, Delbert A. Jack Gloria Boyle Jr., Detroit Lakes, MN and Delle D. Boyle, Kaukauna, WI; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two half-brothers, one half-sister, two brothers plus his twin brother, two granddaughters, Margo Ann Boyle and Marcia Vertin, and two sons.
