Delores I. Knauf

Delores I. Knauf, 95, formerly of Moorhead, passed away December 12, 2007, at the Elim Rehab and Care Center, Fargo, following a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.Delores Irene May Peterson was born to Martin and Ida Hjelle Peterson on May 26, 1912, in Elk Township, Grant County, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. After high school graduation Delores moved to Moorhead to attend Moorhead State Teachers College, now MSUM. She then attended St. John's School of Nursing in Fargo to become a Registered Nurse. On December 31, 1938, Delores was united in marriage to Alois J. Knauf. They made their home in Moorhead where they raised three children, J. Jean, Patty and Mike. Delores retired from the St. John's Hospital Emergency Room in Fargo in 1977 at the age of 65.Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alois; daughter J. Jean Ducca; and granddaughter Debbie Eid Taylor.She is survived by her son, Michael Knauf, Grandin, ND; daughter, Patty Ekstrom, Fargo, ND; brother, Arlington Peterson Joyce Kacak, Alexandria, MN; granddaughter, Lisa Dan Wolf, Moorhead; grandsons, Todd and Doug Eid, California; great-grandchildren, including Alex and Gabby Wolf, Moorhead, MN.Delores's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Elim Rehab and Care Center, and a special thank-you to Audrey Claus, LPN, and Stephanie Kainz RCC/CNA.
