Delores M. Marvig

Delores M. Marvig, age 77, of Hawley, MN, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, in MeritCare Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.Delores Marie Nelson was born on September 2, 1932 to Ralph and Emma Omberg Nelson in Hawley, MN. She grew up in Eglon Township and attended country school in rural Hawley. On September 7, 1957 Delores married Arthur Marvig in Hawley. They remained devoted partners and nearly inseparable for 51 years until Art's passing on March 23, 2009. For several years Delores rolled lefse at Carl's Lefse in Hawley. She was a lifelong member of Hegland Lutheran Church, served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader and was a member of the Deborah Circle. Delores enjoyed crocheting, walking, reading and traveling to see her family. Together with Art, they raised three children, Dean, Sandra and Annette and had 15 grandchildren. Through the years, they kept busy attending all the events their grandchildren participated in – football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, track, softball, baseball, band and choir – rarely missing an event. Delores loved going to all the things here grandchildren were in and enjoyed just spending time with her family. One of the favorite places of the entire family was their back yard; many a ball game was played there. It's where they all gathered to be together and it's where both Art and Delores taught all their grandchildren how to have fun!Delores is survived by one son, Dean Kay Marvig, Hawley, MN; two daughters, Sandra Scott Sorenson, Hawley, MN, and Annette Mike Roquemore, Torrance, CA; three brothers, Vernon Nelson of Hawley, MN, Ralph Nelson, Jr. of Hawley, MN and Robert Twyla Nelson of Hawley, MN; two sisters, Muriel Grefsrud of Hawley, MN and Janet Nelson of Hawley MN and fifteen grandchildren.
