Delores M. Winjum

Delores Marie was born September 23, 1929 to Leonard and Alice Renslow Solwold in Hitterdal, MN. She was baptized at home by Reverend C.M. Grimsrud. She was later confirmed in Keene Lutheran Church by Reverend P.C. Oas. Delores attended Keene Dist. 38 Country School, two years at Ulen High School, and graduated from Hitterdal High School in 1947. She worked as a waitress in various restaurants for about 25 years including Ben Lee Café, OK Diner, Elmer's Café, Hawley Bakery and Lefse Land Café. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church. Delores had a strong faith in God. She participated in Ladies Aid, as an officer at various times and taught Sunday School, and also worked as the custodian at the church from 1986 to August 2002. Delores was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing poems, listening to old country music, and collecting dolls. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Delores married Eddis Jensen on May 19, 1950. They farmed near Hitterdal and later moved to his family farm near Hawley. He passed away on May 9, 1976. She later married Edgar Winjum on September 30, 1978 in Hitterdal. Following their marriage they lived on his family farm near Hitterdal. He died June 23, 2007, and in October of 2008, Delores moved in to Hawley.Delores is survived by two sons, Dale Lynette Jensen, Moorhead, MN and Paul Robin Jensen, Hawley, MN; a daughter, Kathy Lynell Johnson, Hawley, MN; a brother, Wallace Lorraine Solwold; 9 grandchildren, Jason Jensen, Lindsey Jeff Rinde, Kelsey Johnson, Amanda Jensen, Carter Jensen, Denielle Brad Amundson, Brad Tara Jensen, Desiree Rodney Sorenson Jensen, Eric Jeni Erickson; and nine great-grandchildren, Zachary and Anthony Erickson, Carson and Hudson Amundson, Brodan and Bridgette Jensen, Gunnar Sorenson, Hayden Rinde, and Jack Jensen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Alice; husbands Eddis Jensen and Edgar Winjum; and son, Charles Jensen.
