Delphine C. Byers, 77, of Lake Park, Minnesota, died Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.Delphine was born April 5, 1930, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Leslie and Della Mundt Barker. Del grew up in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School, and continued her education at Interstate Business College.Del married Bruce L. Byers on February 19, 1949 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Del and Bruce lived in Moorhead for many years. During this time they owned and operated F-M Speedway near Glyndon, Minnesota. Del also was employed at The Warehouse Market in Moorhead, MN. Del and Bruce retired in 1985, and moved to Turtle Lake, rural Lake Park, MN. They were married for forty years prior to Bruce's death in 1989.Through the years Del had many interests and hobbies which included sewing, gardening, coin collecting, baking and bird watching. Del had a special place in her heart for dogs. She shared her life with many special pets and could not resist giving treats to the neighborhood dogs. Del's greatest love was spending time at the lake with her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Del Melroe, and her 'granddogs", Clancy and Rex. Del was a member of Park Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Del Melroe, Spearfish, South Dakota.Del was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Della & Louis Cappy Shapiro; her father, Leslie Barker; and brother, Roger Barker.In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider a donation to the Humane Society, Inc., 1201 28th Avenue North, Fargo, North Dakota.
