Dolores was born March 17, 1930, in Wimbledon, ND, to Einar and Helen Altringer Peterson. She grew up and attended school in Wimbledon. In high school she was the starting center for the Wimbledon Wildcats Girls Basketball team of 1948 that got to the finals of the Barnes County State Tournament. On June 6, 1953, she married Kermit Hangaard. Kermit passed away in 1984. Together they had four children. Once the children all entered school, she went to work for Pioneer Mutual Insurance Company of Fargo in 1968, eventually rising to Assistant Vice President for Underwriting before retiring in 1993. Dolores was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Moorhead and a past member of the Dakota Hospital Auxiliary.Dolores is survived by her children, Mike Mary of Elk River, MN, Glenn Bonnie of Hankinson, ND, Tom Jean of New Prague, MN, Teresa of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren, Kristopher, Sarah, Rachel, Carley, Greta, Daniel, Cassy and Miranda; sisters, Virginia Lulay of Wimbledon, ND, Sandy Dan Greene of Elk River, MN; and brothers, Lewis Peterson of Jamestown, ND, and Einar Dolores Peterson of Fessenden, ND. She was preceded in death by husband, Kermit; parents, Einar and Helen; brother, George; and step-father, Stephen.Our family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley for all their thoughtfulness, caring advice and diligent care during our mothers illness – God Bless You!
