Donald A. Burns

Donald A. Burns, 77, of Hawley, Minnesota, died Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Sunnyside Nursing Home, Lake Park, Minnesota.Donald A. Burns was born December 11, 1926, at Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Francis and Edna Ryff Burns. In 1927 the family moved to Hawley, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Hawley High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Donald married Janet Meyer on September 13, 1958, at Eksjo Lutheran Church, near Lake Park, Minnesota and they made their home in Hawley. He owned and operated Burns Motor Company in Hawley all of his life. He had served on the Ford Dealership Advertising Fund, Hawley Chamber & Commerce, the American Legion, Hawley Cemetery Board, St. Ansgar Hospital Board and the Hawley Area Fire Department. Donald was a member of Hawley Lutheran Church and served on the council. He is survived by his wife, Janet Burns, Hawley, MN; one son, Mark Elizabeth Burns, Hawley, MN; two daughters, Amy Gregory Biller, Moorhead, MN, and Susan Scott Busker, Ft. Lupton, CO; one brother, Robert Elayne Burns, Huntington Beach, CA; two sisters, Mary Ellen Arnesen, St. Paul, MN, and Dorothy Stranger, Torrance, CA; and eight grandchildren.
