Donald H. Shields

Don was born October 20, 1928, to Charles and Margaret Sullivan Shields in Fargo, ND. He grew up and attended school near Arthur, ND. On September 18, 1950, Don married Mae Danielson in Comstock, MN. They made their home in Moorhead. In March of 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Don served two years of active duty and three years in the Army Reserves. Following his service, Don started his career in sales at Radio and TV Equipment in Fargo. After that he worked for John Iverson Company in Minot, where his sales territory covered North Dakota and parts of Minnesota and South Dakota. After retirement, he enjoyed keeping busy with jobs at the Meadows Golf Course and Whale of a Wash.Don had a great personality and enjoyed visiting with others. He also loved spending time outdoors, but most of all spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mae; children, Robbie Gary Zent of Alexandria, MN, Galen Beverly of Virginia Beach, VA, Maris Pat O'Connell of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Chris Terri Zent, Sara Mike Paulson, Sandy Shields, Sam Shields, Caitlin O'Connell; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Dale Marie Shields; and sister, Fran Wayne Fetters.He was preceded in death by his parents.Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
