Donald Jensen

Donald (Don) Jensen, age 81, family man, music lover, chess player, cook, traveler and dad joke teller, died peacefully at home on September 12^th, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

He was born November 17^th, 1938 in Duluth Minnesota.

Loving husband to wife, Joyce.

Outstanding and dedicated father to Shelley, Jaclyn, Andrea, and Rudy K.

Proud grandfather of Eryn, Evan, Ethan, Emily, Elise, Isaac, Melissa, Joe, Nathan. Great-grandfather of Kai.

Brother of Alice, Rudy A., Al, Gordy, Carol (Jeannie) and Ken. Further survived by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Don lived for his family, was drafted into the Army to protect his country, became a warehouse manager through hard work, and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling, loved nature and animals, and relished debating history (especially the Civil War and WWII).

He spent a little over two years in the Army as an MP stationed in Paris France. During that time, he picked up the travel bug and went all over Europe. He fell in love with the European culture, especially France, and spent a lot of time in art museums.

There was not a person at a grocery store or restaurant he would not “shoot the bull” with, many times to the embarrassment of his kids. Don enjoyed meeting new people and went out of the way to tell really awful jokes to them to get them to laugh, although he was often laughing so hard, he could not tell the whole joke. He was a wonderful artist who drew about the nature he loved. His family has had the enjoyment of his art for many years.

His life was well lived and he was well loved. Don was a strong, loyal and good man who left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Memorial service will be held at Wright Funeral Home on September 24^th at 2pm.
