Donna Fay Blilie was born on March 31, 1931 to Vern and Delia Dahlstrom Kirkhorn. She was raised in Rustad, MN and graduated from Comstock School in 1948. Donna graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1951 beginning her lifelong commitment to caring for others. Donna married Melvin Blilie on November 3, 1952. The couple later settled in Wolverton, MN where they raised their family and were proud business owners of Mel's Fairway and M&D Hardware, serving the community of Wolverton for many years. Donna practiced nursing as a supervisor for many years at St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo and later at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge until she retired at age 65.Donna was known as the town doctor for many years; caring for injured or ill people all hours of the day. She was often called to people's homes and accident scenes. Donna was very loved and well respected for her care and compassion by many. After Mel died in 1998 Donna continued to live in Wolverton for a few years before relocating to Detroit Lakes to live next door to Paula and her family. As Donna's health deteriorated she never lost her sense of humor or her positive spirit and smile. Donna was cared for the past two years by her wonderful caregivers with Home Instead Senior Care and daughter Paula and Paula's family. Donna passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2012. Donna is survived by her three children, Dave Dawn, Christine, ND, Doug Karen Chandler, AZ, and Paula Clay Hestdalen, Detroit Lakes, MN; former daughter-in-law, Darla Blilie, Sabin, MN; three grandchildren, Scott Tammy Blilie, Christine, ND, Brooke Hestdalen, Fargo, ND and Luke Hestdalen, Detroit Lakes, MN; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Chloe and Hailey Blilie. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Mel, her parents and brother, Ray.
