Doris Edna Burnside was born April 25, 1921, on a farm north of Hawley, MN, to Joe and Sena Dwyre Burnside. She graduated from country school District #104, north of Hawley, where she later taught school. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1939. She graduated from Moorhead State Teacher's College in 1941, then later received a Master's Degree in Elementary education. She taught school for twenty years in Ulen-Hitterdal and substituted at Hawley Elementary for twenty years. She was confirmed at Hawley Lutheran Church and later taught Sunday School. Doris was married to Elwood Henrickson on May 11, 1941, at the United Methodist Church in Hawley, MN. They had four children, Ronald Linda Henrickson, Polson, MT; Ruby Dan Kittilson, Park Rapids, MN; Joyce John Kopari, Thief River Falls, MN; and Duane Carol Henrickson, Columbia Heights, MN. Elwood and Doris farmed and raised their children north of Hawley. In 1976 they retired from farming and moved into Hawley, and they also had a summer home on Big Cormorant Lake. They spent their winters in Mesa and Scottsdale, AZ, for several years. She is survived by two sons, two daughters and their families, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood; four brothers, Francis, Frank, Russell & Clarence Burnside; and her parents, Joe & Sena Burnside. She is also survived by two brothers, Lloyd Ginger Burnside, Hawley, MN, and Orvin Clarice Burnside, Arden Hills, MN; three sisters, Marjorie Arnold Olson, Mesa, AZ, Alice Hoaglin, Mesa, AZ, and Mable Cozine, Phoenix, AZ.
