Doris V. Jorgenson

Doris Viola (Dolva) Jorgenson was born on December 15 1929 to Olaf K Dolva and Alma (Hovde) Dolva.

Graduated from Hawley High School 1948, attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.  

Doris moved to Seattle, Washington in 1954 where she was employed at Internal Revenue Service. She quickly made new friends attending the young adult’s group at Denny Park Lutheran Church where she met her future husband, Clayton Jorgenson. Doris and Clayton were married in Hawley Lutheran Church on January 13, 1957.  They made their home in Seattle for a few years. They later settled in Hawley where their sons Russell Wayne and Roger Craig were born. In 1966 she returned to work at Internal Revenue Service in Fargo where she worked until she retired.

Doris was active in Hawley Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Women’s Circle, Altar Guild and she taught Sunday School.  She enjoyed working with flower and vegetable gardens. Doris and Clayton made many trips to visit family in Colorado and Maine. They went on a cruise and on several bus trip tours.  Doris made two trips to Norway where she became acquainted with many relatives.

In her retirement she began machine knitting, producing beautiful Norwegian style sweaters with great detail. She belonged to knitting clubs in Lake Park and Fargo, where she perfected her art.  She attended annual machine knitting seminars in the Minneapolis area, where she modeled her works.

Doris had a solid faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Doris cared for Clayton at home for many years until he entered Eventide Nursing home.  Doris was at Clayton's side every day until Clayton passed away.

Doris passed quietly in her sleep on May 16, 2024 at River Pointe of Moorhead, MN where she succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her son, Roger Jorgenson; and her sister, June Adel Marie Dolva. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Jorgenson; her son, Russell Jorgenson; as well as her brothers, Vincent Andrew Dolva, Harold Wallace Dolva, and Roald “Waddy” Everett Dolva. 

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be held at Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
