Doris L. Schiele

Doris L. Schiele, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, September 15, 2014, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Doris Lillian Halvorson was born in Ulen, MN, to Gilman and Alma Kolsrud Halvorson. She grew up near Ulen and attended Keene Country School. Doris worked as a nanny for many neighbor families and eventually moved to Moorhead. While working at Cass Clay Creamery, she met Alvin “Al” Schiele, and they later married. Doris and Al made their home in Moorhead, MN, and together they had two daughters. Doris loved to be with children and worked as a daycare provider while raising her daughters. Doris enjoyed cooking, baking, going to the lakes and playing cards. She also loved listening to polka music and dancing.

Doris is survived by her two daughters, Elaine Trent Gilbery, Moorhead, MN and Bonnie Scott Hanson, Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren, Alyssa Keith Asheim, Hannah Gilbery, Callie and Brayden Hanson; great-granddaughter, Harper Asheim; three sisters, Alpha Johnson, Valley City, ND, Norma Leinum, Minneapolis, MN, and Florence Holte, Barnesville, MN, sisters-in-law, Adeline Halvorson, Ulen, MN, and Alice Gimbel, Bismarck, ND; brother-in-law, Emil Ternes, Bismarck, ND, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Mae Halvorson and Helen Svenby; brothers, Archie and Lloyd Halvorson, and infant son, Stephen.

The family would like thank the staff at Rosewood on Broadway and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care of Doris.

Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
