Doris Marlene Alwin, 68, passed away at her home in Fargo unexpectedly Tuesday June 3, 2008. The daughter of Clara and Edward Meyer was born June 26, 1939 in Devils Lake , ND. Doris attended school in Devils Lake graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1957. Doris, married and eventually moved to West Fargo where she worked for 13 years as a para-professional in the West Fargo school district. Her love of working with young children gave her many of the best years of her life. In 1988 she moved back to Devils Lake as the co-owner and Vice President of Dakota Rose Broadcasting, Inc. She and her husband owned and operated KDLR-AM and KDVL-FM radio stations. After selling the properties in 2002 she and her husband moved to Fargo and were enjoying retirement. Doris was an avid reader, always carrying two or three books at home or when traveling. She was always delighted at the time she could spend selecting new books at the library. Doris wrote poetry and was published in a national publication.Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband Dale, children Kelli Troy Hertz, Kent Kim Alwin, and Kara Kloehn. Four grandchildren, Katie McGaughey, Jeffery and Michael Alwin and Austyn Kloehn. One great grandchild, Jaden Narlock. Surviving also are two sisters Evelyn Ralph Duchscher and Carol David Hanson.
