Doris Simenson

Doris Simenson, 95, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Valley Care and Rehab Center, Barnesville, MN.

Doris Marie Simenson was born to Halvor and Martha (Undjhem) Kasin on July 18, 1922 in Hawley, MN.  She grew up in Hawley and graduated from Hawley High School.

During World War II she worked in Chicago, IL, for a supplier of war products running fork lift, before moving back to Hawley.  She married Trygve “Bud” Simenson on September 21, 1946 and together they ran Simenson’s Barber and Beauty in Hawley for 60 years.

Doris and Bud enjoyed playing golf in the summer and bowling in the winter for many years.  Doris also enjoyed making ceramics and afghans in her free time.

She is survived by her son, Duane (Jennie) Herbranson, Burnesville, MN; granddaughters, Natalie (Tom) Hoffman, Apple Valley, MN, Raquel (Doug) Martinson, Apple Valley, MN, and Brenda (Trent) Morrell, Elk River, MN, as well as 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Maurice, Kenneth and Clarence and sisters, Myrtle and Bernice.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7 in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

A funeral will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
