Dorothy Anne Dale

Dorothy Anne (Larson) Dale, Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 3, 2019 at the age of 91. Dorothy was born on February 28, 1928 to Louis and Ellen (Johnson) Larson in Hannaford, ND. She grew up in Hannaford, ND and attended Hannaford High School. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead MN in 1950. It was at Concordia that Dorothy met Donald Dale.
After graduation, Dorothy taught music education in Sauk Center, MN. Dorothy and Don were married in Hannaford, ND July 26, 1953. They were married 66 years and always did everything together. They made their home in Moorhead and raised three children, Anne, Robert and Mark. Dorothy continued to teach music in the Moorhead School District at Park and Georgetown elementary schools.
Dorothy was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead. With her passion for church music, she served as youth, adult and bell choir director and as a faithful choir member for over 60 years. She was active in numerous Bible studies, the quilters’ guild, women’s circles and anything involving music. Don and Dorothy also enjoyed singing in the choir at Eventide.
Dorothy loved to make quilts and intricate Hardanger pieces. She shared her Hardanger passion when she worked at the Nordic Needle.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Don; her daughter, Anne of Crystal Lake, IL, son Robert (Susan) of Moorhead, MN and son Mark (Jane) of Savage, MN; four grandchildren, Kate (Charles) Speer, Emily (Sean) Richards, Matthew Dale and Andrew Dale; and four great grandchildren, Kaylee Richards, Brooke Richards, Addison Richards and Colin Speer; brothers Paul (Betty) Larson, Battle Lake, MN and Donald Larson, Hannaford, ND.
Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends. Dorothy especially loved her Our Saviors, Concordia and “Round Robin” friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful caregivers of Eventide for their compassionate and loving care.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, September 13 at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Funeral will be at 10:30 am Saturday, September 14 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Moorhead
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or Concordia College
