Dorothy B. Foss

Dorothy Bernice Edwards Foss, 94, of Moorhead, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Dorothy was born in Dilworth, MN on April 17, 1915, to William and Cora Friday Edwards and was the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Moorhead where she graduated from Moorhead High School. She worked for the Case Company in Fargo and Foss Architects in Moorhead. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Moorhead. Dorothy married Magnus O. Foss, Sr. on October 19, 1973. They resided in Moorhead and Arizona City, AZ. She returned to Moorhead in 1997 and resided within the Eventide System until her death. Dorothy is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Barbara Edwards Robert L. Johnson of Austin, TX, Roger Agnetta Person of Clearbrook, MN, Betty Jean Person Mike Flanagan of St. Louis Park, MN, James Nedra Van Duyn of Brainerd, MN, Susan Van Duyn Pederson of Clarksville, TN, Judy Van Duyn Lee of Devils Lake, ND and Mary Jane Van Duyn Manke of Fargo, ND. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews; one stepson, John Foss of Pelican Lake, MN and numerous step-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Lucille LaPash, Elizabeth Person and Marjorie Van Duyn and three brothers, Harold, George and Ronald. She was also preceded in death by one niece, Mary Alyce Edwards Knudson; one nephew, Robert Person; one stepdaughter, Mary Foss Ron Ekren and three stepsons, Mac, Jr., Mark and William Foss.Dorothy was a loving aunt and caregiver. She loved her family and enjoyed being a part of their lives. She made a difference in all their lives and will always be loved for it. A special thank you goes out to her great-nephew, David Knudson, son to Mary Alyce Knudson, for all the loving care he gave to Dorothy in her last years.
